Drummond Statue in Copacabana
Those who pass every day along Copacabana’s wonderful promenade, around Posto 6, are already accustomed to the silhouette of the monument to Carlos Drummond de Andrade. The statue, created by artist Leo Santana, was inaugurated in October 2002, in celebration of the centenary of the birth of Brazilian poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade and cost R$65,000 at the time.
Located on Avenida Atlântica, the statue depicts the poet sitting, cross-legged and with his back to the sea, in a position inspired by a photograph by Rogério Reis, made to portray a routine moment in Drummond’s life.

Statue of Dorival Caymmi
The Copacabana neighborhood was chosen to be part of the statue in honor of Dorival Caymmi, one of the greatest composers of Brazilian Popular Music. Statue of Ayrton Senna in Copacabana
The Ayrton Senna statue was recently unveiled to join the array of celebrity statues located in Copacabana. Made of bronze, the bronze statue of the three-time Formula 1 champion is installed on the Copacabana promenade, in front of the Hotel Copacabana Palace.
The piece is the work of artist Mario Pitanguy and sits on an 80 cm podium-shaped base, designed by engineer Anderson Pereira, for a Hotel Urbano campaign.
